Book Release: Roger Lamb’s American Revolution: A British Soldier’s Story; Edited by Don N. Hagist

Of all the British soldiers who served in North America during the American Revolution, none wrote more about his experiences than Roger Lamb. He certainly had a lot to say: his service in two of the most important campaigns—the 1777 Saratoga campaign and the 1781 campaign through the Carolinas to Virginia—put him in the thick of some of the war’s most famous battles.

The Battle of Rhode Island: Middletown Historical Society Unveils Sign on the Siege of Newport

The Middletown Historical Society recently unveiled a new historical signboard focused on the Siege of Newport, which was an attempt to oust the British forces occupying Aquidneck Island in 1778. Located on the lawn of the Witherbee School, at the corner of Green End Ave. and Valley Road, the sign was funded by generous donations from the Rhode Island Society Sons of the Revolution. It is dedicated to the memory of the late Kenneth Walsh, Ph.D.

November News from Revolutionary Westchester 250

Nearly 1,000 visitors joined our fun, immersive experience on October 22 at Pierson Park in Tarrytown, NY. The history of the Revolutionary War in Tarrytown and Westchester County came alive, with hands-on experiences for kids and adults, including drilling with the Continental Army and trying out colonial games.

Volunteers help to bring back Butts Hill Fort during Fall Cleanup

On Saturday October 29th, a dedicated crew of 20 volunteers descended on Butts Hill Fort for their 4th Volunteer clean up. We split our crew into two.  As one crew worked on clearing all the deadfall wood and debris from the North side ditch of the Fort, the other crew worked on the East side clearing invasive vegetation.
