Battle of Rhode Island Association Launch Upgrades to Website

When the Battle of Rhode Island Association (BoRIA) launched their website on August 29th, 2022 (the anniversary of the battle), the plan was to utilize the website to educate and inform the public on RI’s significant role in the American Revolution. On June 12th, the anniversary of RI’s General Assembly enacting the first Colonial Navy, we’re launching the 2nd phase of our website, has new features that will aid in the understanding of these important events of almost 250 years ago. Working closely with web designer Mike Boone from Boone.Design LLC, BoRIA Advisor Gloria Schmidt and Jim Stearns created and tested the new features. We’ve added a new menu to navigate the site quickly. We’ve added an Interactive timeline which follows the Battle of Rhode Island through time and where the skirmishes occurred. We’ve included a Visit Page; this is also an interactive map that will provide information on Revolutionary Rhode Island locations that you can visit today. For researchers, students and educators, we’ve added a Resources Section, which offers links to detailed maps, primary sources, and lesson plans. For media matters we’ve added an Electronic Press Kit, which features our logos, information about our group and endeavors as well as multimedia files of our events and press mentions. There’s also a back catalog of our press releases. This work was funded by the Massachusetts Sons of Cincinnati, who also supported our initial website development.

BoRIA Director Craig Clark commented “We’ve come a long way in less than two years and we plan to continue adding more features but more importantly more content”. Mike Boone of Boone Design noted “Working with the Battle of Rhode Island Association has been an ideal partnership resulting in the successful launch of their rapidly growing web presence, which now features many exciting new ways to explore their unique story. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to work closely with Gloria, Jim, and the rest of their excellent team on this undertaking and look forward to what BoRIA has in store next!”
