On this Presidents Day (also George Washington’s birthday) 2023 the Battle of Rhode Island Association is honored to announce that we have received a generous grant of $10,000 from Americana Corner. Americana Corner was founded by Tom Hand in 2020 as an online resource to help others rediscover America’s incredible founding and first century of expansion. The Preserving America Grant Program assists organizations that tell the story of our nation’s wonderful past and rekindle a love for American history in all its splendor.

This grant was approved by Americana Corner’s Preserving America Grant Program. BoRIA grant advisor Dr. Murray Norcross who applied for the grant, stated “the generous grant from the Americana Corner Foundation will be used in part to fund needed archaeological research of the original Butts Hill Fort earthworks before restoration can begin.” Work in developing the masterplan of maintenance and care of Butts Hill Fort continues as we inch closer to understanding what we will need to achieve this.  Dr Norcross added that BoRIA “is grateful to Americana Corner for its leadership and dedication to the ideals that formed our nation”.

Americana Corner was founded by Tom Hand in 2020 as an online resource to help others rediscover America’s incredible founding and first century of expansion.
