Catherine C. Roberts
Catherine Roberts is an energetic and charismatic executive level strategic communications professional, business consultant, leader and military veteran having served in the United States Air Force signals intelligence field and public affairs in the Maryland Air National Guard. With over 15 years of experience and expertise working within the Department of Defense, intelligence community and federal industry, Ms. Roberts has consulted and advised senior level officials and business clients by serving in lead roles to create, implement and manage communications programs on various multi-million dollar contracts at government agencies. She possessed a Top Secret/SCI clearance for 15 years and has been entrusted to consult to senior leadership clients often as the sole strategic communications expert, writer, editor, liaison, and advisor within highly classified government programs and directorates.
Ms. Roberts’s early career experiences to present day, have continually allowed her the opportunity to work directly with key decision makers within organizations and businesses. She helped achieve their objectives within the government industry, and since then, has advised and consulted to business owners, executive clients and a 501(c)3 non-profit in Virginia and Washington, D.C. She honed her skills by accepting critical positions that required extensive building within organizations and programs from the beginning stages.
After being selected by senior military and government leaders to help stand-up the first-ever Information Operations Squadron at the National Security Agency (NSA), a Deputy Director at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) hired Ms. Roberts as a government contractor to create the first-ever strategic communications program for the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Directorate at the FBI headquarters.
She served as the only communications and marketing expert responsible for advising senior leadership and the entire directorate on communication strategies, plans and processes. She created original material and messaging that at times went directly to the Director of the FBI, the President of the United States, Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and other agencies in part to get the required funding for the WMD program and build relationships with other FBI field sites and federal agencies.
From there, another company selected Ms. Roberts to serve in a position at the Pentagon in another classified environment where she created, implemented and managed a new strategic communications program for the Department of the Army Directorate. She built critical relationships internally and externally for the organization and advised leadership in every aspect of communications, strategy and messaging.
Ms. Roberts has also served companies and high level government clients on-site at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Her communications savvy, ambition and positivity are only a few of the natural strengths that enhance her ability to connect with people at any level and understand their needs to effectively communicate strategies.
In addition, Ms. Roberts serves as the Director of Communications and on-air host for a local PBS affiliate television show that focuses on military veteran business owners. It airs monthly in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. She is a graduate of American University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Journalism.
