Day 6 of the W3R-US Bike and Kayak Tour!

09/02/2021

Bike and Kayak Tour – Day 6: With no formal ceremonies on the schedule, we caught some extra sleep and left the entrance to the Stony Point Battlefield in New York at 11:20 a.m. and crossed into New Jersey at Mahwah a little over an hour later.

A marker at a Montville intersection noted that Washington’s troops had camped in the area and that a nearby bridge was a key transportation link during the Revolutionary War.

Sal and I were happy to arrive at the Ford Mansion/Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown after a 50-mile journey that included several challenging twists and turns.

A magnificent statue of Washington stands across the street from the headquarters. We are spending the night at the Princeton home of Sal’s brother Ryan and his family.

We return to Morristown in the morning.
