2018 National Trails Conference

We invite you to join us for the 2018 National Trails System Conference to be held in Vancouver, WA from October 22-25.

Keynote Speakers/Plenary Sessions:

• Carolyn Finney, Author Black Faces, White Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African Americans to the Great Outdoors

• Philip Connors, Author A Song for the River; All the Wrong Places; Fire Season

• REI’s Approach to Equity in the Outdoors

• National Park Foundation—Love Your Park: Mobilizing the Park Community

Overview:

The Partnership for the National Trails System (PNTS) and River Management Society (RMS) will host co-located events in Vancouver, WA to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the National Trails and Wild & Scenic Rivers Systems Acts. These side-by-side events will bring together private and public organizations and Federal agencies dedicated to the preservation of the nation’s wild, scenic, and historic places.

Trail conference and river symposium themes and tracks will differ, however, there will be several joint sessions offered. For those interested in attending both events, dual registration will be available at an additional cost.

The full conference program can be found here. Although the conference is geared toward trail users, administrators, and managers, conference tracks apply to many nonprofits and individuals in the sphere of public lands, preservation, and recreation. Tracks are as follows:
