Please join our friends’ the Battle of Rhode Island Association and the Butts Hill Fort Restoration Committee (BHFRC) for the 4th cleanup of Butts Hill Fort!
The cleanup will take place between 8am and 2pm, with Sunday (the 30th) being reserved as a rain date should the weather be inclement on the 29th.
Cleanup efforts will include only removal of deadfall wood and overgrown brush from the ditches and parapet walls on the north, east, and south sides of the Fort and weed whacking areas cleared earlier. There will be NO tree cutting.
Parking is available behind the tennis courts at the Portsmouth High School or on Dyer St. Please do not park on Butts Street – it must remain clear to allow vehicles with equipment to access the Fort. Please bring rakes, shovels, pruners, loppers, and weed whackers. Please be alert to the presence of ticks and poison ivy.
Upon arrival volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver of liability for the Town of Portsmouth.
