Author Christian McBurney to Speak in North Kingstown

The Battle of Rhode Island Association’s Lecture Series sponsored by Americana Corner continues as we are excited to collaborate with the North Kingstown 350th Anniversary Speaker Series to present historian Christian McBurney and his lecture “North Kingstown and the Revolutionary War.” He will be speaking about American Revolutionary War heroes from Wickford focusing on Major Samuel Phillips, Captain George Babcock, Captain Thomas Cole, and Private Jack Fones of the famous “Black Regiment”. Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 PM at North Kingstown Town Hall, 80 Boston Neck Rd. Please note that registration is not required, but space is limited; seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The lecture will be recorded and available on NK 350th YouTube channel (@NorthKingstown350th) soon after the talk.

 

Christian McBurney is an independent historian who has authored several books on the American Revolutionary War, including the following with Rhode Island connections: Spies in Revolutionary Rhode Island (History Press, 2014), Kidnapping the Enemy: The Special Operations to Capture Generals Charles Lee and Richard Prescott (Westholme, 2014), and The Rhode Island Campaign: The First French and American Operation of the Revolutionary War (Westholme, 2011). He has also co-authored World War II Rhode Island (History Press, 2017) and Untold Stories of World War II Rhode Island (History Press, 2019). He is the founder and editor of a leading Rhode Island history blog at www.smallstatebighistory.com For more information see www.christianmcburney.com. He resides in the Washington, D.C. area, after being raised in Kingston, R.I., attending South Kingstown High School, and obtaining his undergraduate degree from Brown University. He and his wife have a second home in West Kingston.
