SUMMARY:Slavery & Morven: A Community Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:Morven Museum & Garden invites you to join them at Princeton Public Library\, 65 Witherspoon Street\, on June 7 at 6 pm.\n\n\n  \nIn 2017\, Morven Museum & Garden gathered a group of community members to discuss plans for examining the history of the enslaved people who lived and worked at Morven and those who enslaved them. This discussion informed the reinstallation of Morven’s first floor permanent exhibition and associated programming over the ensuing years. Since then\, we’ve contracted historical consultant Sharece Blakney\, who conducted over 900 hours of archival research in 2022.\n\n\n  \nBlakney’s research unearthed some new or expanded information allowing further insight into the lives of people enslaved by the Stockton family (at Morven and other locations)\, including resulting generations from manumitted people. As her research has concluded\, we are reconvening community members to share and discuss our findings. Morven plans to implement this research into our current and future offerings\, and we welcome your feedback.\n\n\n  \nDuring this event\, Blakney will provide an overview of her findings\, followed by a group discussion. Refreshments will be served. Click the link below to RSVP.\n\nLearn More\n
