Witness a special wreath-laying ceremony at Lafayette’s equestrian statue next to the first-ever Washington Monument in America that was part of te earlier bus footstep tour. Attend the free centennial commemoration of the 1924 installation of Lafayette’s statue in honor of America’s safeguarding French liberty in World war I just as Lafayette helped safeguard American liberty in the Revolutionary War. Enjoy this music-accompanied ceremony and reception at the bunting-decorated foot of the Washington Monument hosted by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy and the American Friends of Lafayette.
