Congress approved $10 million to preserve and restore sites and structures that commemorate the founding of the nation. Eligible properties now include places owned by state and local governments, non-profit organizations, public and non-profit institutions of higher education, and tribes. Applications are due March 5.

The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) was awarded a 2023 Preservation Planning Grant from the
American Battlefield Protection Program to identify and document the understudied encampment
sites and cultural resources associated with the march of American and French soldiers through
Harford and Cecil Counties.

MHT will be hosting two public meetings to discuss the grant, speak with local informants, and make
connections with the community and landowners. All are welcome to attend!
