A partnership between W3R-Delaware and the Ministry of Caring will bring 300 years of Brandywine Village history to life inside Wilmington’s upcoming visitor hub.
A Community Collaboration
W3R-Delaware has reached an agreement with the nearby nonprofit Ministry of Caring to install a series of large, museum-quality panels throughout the interior of the new Brandywine Village / W3R Welcome Center. These panels will trace the village’s three-century story—from its colonial milling roots to its pivotal role on the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route—offering visitors an engaging introduction the moment they step through the door.
Crafting the Exhibit

Content creation: W3R-Delaware is supplying historical research, images, and narratives on the W3R Trail and Colonial Wilmington.

Production: The Ministry of Caring is designing and fabricating the panels, ensuring they meet modern accessibility and durability standards.

Installation: Once complete, the full set will cover the Welcome Center’s interior walls, creating an immersive, self-guided experience.
Revitalizing 19th & Market
The Ministry of Caring recently acquired and cleared an entire block at 19th and Market Streets—just steps from the Welcome Center—to make way for Villa Maria, a $30-million, three-story senior-living complex. Scheduled to house 72 low-income seniors, Villa Maria will bring new energy and essential housing to Colonial Brandywine Village while standing in close partnership with W3R-Delaware’s historic outreach efforts.
