John Rogers purchased the tavern in 1781. It was here that Rochambeau, Washington and the rest of the Allied Army crossed the Susquehanna River at the ferry located nearby. Just a short drive down Rt. 7 takes you to Perry Point, the approximate site of the lower ferry across the Susquehanna.
