W3R-NJ
About W3R-New Jersey
W3R-NJ is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is working statewide, to identify, commemorate and preserve the New Jersey routes and associated historic sites used by allied armies during the Yorktown campaign along the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail. This includes telling the lesser known stories about the diverse individuals who not only composed the allied armies, but also those who may have witnessed the troops’ encampments and movements.
W3R-NJ works with local towns and other organizations, through which the modern day trail passes, to adopt activities to identify, commemorate and preserve the Trial history in their own locale.
W3R-NJ State Report
- W3R-NJ Volunteer Hours Oct 2023-Feb 2024 = 1565 hrs. Average 313 hours/month to date.
- Supported the Westfield Historical Society’s Inclusive History of WARO through Westfield research project by providing a 2:1 matching donation to a private donor’s donation.
- Maintained and updated, engaged with followers on the W3R-NJ website, Facebook and Instagram sites.
- Increased new memberships and assisted with membership renewals.
- Sponsored Rochambeau reenactor visit to Trail Historic Site, The Hermitage Museum for their Halloween Ghost Tour.
- Chair, Julie Diddell gave a presentation “Connecting Community to the Trail” at the New Jersey Historical Commission’s November conference in Trenton, NJ.
- Sponsored Lafayette reenactor’s visit to Washington’s Landings in NJ event at Washington’s Crossing Park, NJ.
- Began collaboration with Westfield Historical Society to preserve the Mills Ferris Pearsall house for as a future visitor’s center for W3R-NJ.
- Attended and participated with several Trail related historical society meetings.
- Planning underway for 2024, 2025, 2026 events and projects.
