Come join WARO and W3R-US on Sunday August 27th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in Griggstown and walk (or ride) beside General George Washington and his valet Billy Lee! Pretend as if you were there over 200 years ago marching alongside the General and Mr. Lee as they make their way through the Franklin Township along Canal Road. The road is part of the Millstone Valley Scenic Byway, which French troops marched along in late August of 1781 on their way to the Siege of Yorktown!

March to Yorktown Day Commemoration & Encampment Festival

Join W3R-NJ, W3R-US and the WARO Trail on August 27th for this year's annual March to Yorktown Day in Westfield New Jersey! The day's events will include numerous historical reenactors, including a living history militia encampment featuring musket drills and firings and Generals Washington and Rochambeau themselves! There will also be various food trucks, vendors and a car display!

Picture yourself at Yorktown Day with W3R and Silhouettes By Hand! Have historical artist Lauren Muney craft a traditional silhouette portrait as it would've been made in the 18th century. Also known as "Cutting Portraits", the style became popular in the mid 1700's as an alternative to other forms of portraits, becoming a common and fashionable way to preserve the self or a loved one.

This session features the historic Joseph Webb House, the location of a conference between Rochambeau and Washington in the months leading up to the Siege of Yorktown.

But a walk through its halls can reveal more than that! A Rising Sun Inn docent will take you on a virtual tour of the tavern. Along the way, they will shed light on the tavern’s importance during the American Revolution.
