About W3R-Pennsylvania
The National Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association Inc. (W3R-US) is the private sector 501c3 partner to the Washington Rochambeau National Historic Trail. This Trail commemorates the allied French and diverse Continental armies during the American War of Independence. It tells the story of the experiences they had as they travelled hundreds of miles to, and from, the victorious Siege of Yorktown in 1781 and 1782.
W3R-PA State Report
- Preliminary Planning Meeting occurred with Valley Forge Memorial Chapel for a 300th Birthday Observance the week of July 1 2025 in honor of General Comte Rochambeau. Meeting held January 24 2024 with Executive Director of Washington Memorial Heritage Mark Thompson, Chapel Rector Tommy Thompson, Vice President of Board of Directors Gardiner Pearson, Pierre and Ellen Lefebvre and John Mitchell of W3R-PA.
A Descendant of Rochambeau , Raphael de Gouberville, was contacted through Thierry Chenau, President of American Society of Le Souvenir Francais and on 2/19/2024 Monsieur de Gouberville advised us he will attend the 300th Birthday observance at Valley Forge Memorial Chapel. - Blue Bell Tavern follow up with Theresa Stuhlman of the Philadelphia Preservation and Development Office Administration for Fairmount Park/City of Philadelphia regarding status of repairs of the Blue Bell Tavern by SEPTA; some ongoing contact with John and Jan Haagis of Darby PA
- Multiple contacts with Pennsylvania Society, Sons of the American Revolution, with the Philadelphia Continental Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution regarding a number of matters regarding plans for 250 projects .We are looking for projects where we could work together with the SAR and the DAR.
- Contacts to be maintained with Jennifer Martin , Executive Director Washington Crossing State Park in Washington Crossing Bucks County PA
