Family Outing on the Road to History!

    August 27, 2023 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Hermitage Museum 335 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, United States

Come join us as we commemorate the 1781 march to Yorktown where American Independence was won! You are invited to join a caravan of cars and French and Colonial re-enactors as we follow this route from The Hermitage to a festival in Westfield, NJ!

Sponsored by the The Hermitage, the Washington-Rochambeau Route Association & the Crossroads of the American Revolution.

Did you know that General Benjamin Lincoln marched his troops down Franklin Turnpike past The Hermitage as part of this final surge of the Revolutionary War? General Lincoln's route through NW Bergen County was a feint to make the British think we were attacking them in NYC. The troops, commanded by Lincoln, included the Rhode Island Regiment, composed largely of enslaved people who had joined the war seeking freedom.
