DESCRIPTION:Greetings from the Virginia Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association (  w3r-us.org/va/  ) \nJuly 1st is rapidly approaching\, and so is our third annual celebration of French General Rochambeau’s birthday. The spirit of this incredible General and his contributions to American independence live on as we recognize the 301st anniversary of his birth. \nhttps://ouramericanrevolution.org/index.cfm/people/view/pp0028 \nOn that day\, we will also celebrate: \n\nThe accomplishments of the three commanders and heroes of Yorktown (Washington\, Rochambeau\, and de Grasse)\nCompletion of the Virginia W3R/WARO route redesignation project\, a 6-year project to re-mark the route as a National Historic Trail\n\nNumerous local dignitaries and many of our volunteers\, supporters\, and special guests will be in attendance. Light hor-d’oeuvres\, cake\, and nonalcoholic beverages will be served. Bring a guest. The event is open to the public; reservations are required.  RSVP no later than June 19\, 2026\, with your name\, organization\, and number in your party. \nDonations to support this and other events\, and to help fulfill our mission “to enlighten\, educate\, and foster wholesome activities that improve the lives of everyone\,” are always welcome. If you’d rather rent a chauffeur or use a limousine service to bring you into town\, we have recommendations for that as well. \nOnce you get here\, please take advantage of our free public parking lots and Yorktown Trolley service! \nDriving Directions \nFrom the Southside: \n\nTake I-64 West to Exit 250B (Ft. Eustis/Yorktown).\nTake a left off the ramp and an immediate right onto Fort Eustis Blvd.\nContinue on Ft. Eustis Blvd. for three miles and turn left onto Route 17 North/George Washington Memorial Highway.\nFollow Route 17 North to the second traffic light and turn right onto Cook Road.\nFollow Cook Road to Ballard Street.\nTurn left on Ballard Street to the Five Points intersection where you will see the sign for Historic Yorktown.\n\nFrom Richmond: \n\nTake I-64 East to 242B (Marquis Center Parkway).\nContinue on Route 199 East and turn right onto the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown.\nFollow the Parkway approximately 10 miles until it ends at the Five Points intersection where you will see the sign for Historic Yorktown.\n\nFrom Gloucester/Northern Neck: \n\nFollow US Route 17 South across the Coleman Bridge.\nTake the first right after the bridge onto Mathews Street.\nAt the stop sign\, turn right onto Water Street. You will be entering Historic Yorktown.
