W3R-DE recently placed American flags at 2 meaningful locations along the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route in Delaware, honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans.
In Colonial Brandywine Village in Wilmington, American flags were displayed near the Trail and the new W3R-DE Welcome Center, which sits close to a veterans memorial plaza. The site offers visitors another opportunity to reflect on the history, heritage, and continued importance of remembrance along the National Trail.
W3R-DE also placed flags along the Trail at the 1777 Newark, Delaware battlefield. The combined American and French armies marched through this area in both 1781 and 1782, on their way to and from the decisive campaign at Yorktown. Today, W3R-DE continues to remember the 24 Colonial soldiers who lie there in unmarked graves.
Through these acts of commemoration, W3R-DE helps ensure that those who served are not forgotten, and that the communities along the Trail remain connected to the stories of sacrifice, alliance, and independence that shaped the nation.
