W3R-DE President Bill Conley met with Ms. Cahill on November 26 to discuss potential ceremonies at her historic site. The 1743 home, currently under restoration by the state, served as General Cornwallis’s headquarters after the 1777 Delaware battle and just before the Battle of Brandywine.
Notably, the American flag behind Leone first flew over the Cooch Battlefield in 2009, then over Army Forward Operating Base Romaro in Northern Afghanistan in 2010. The flag was later donated to the Cooch home by Major Kevin Conley, U.S. Army Engineer, who was medically disabled in Afghanistan and evacuated to Walter Reed Hospital.
