W3R-DE Wreaths Across America Ceremony

W3R-DE honored our heroes during the “Wreaths Across America” ceremony along the National Trail in Wilmington, DE. 🇺🇸

Highlights included:

  • Speeches by Bill Conley, President of W3R-DE/LTC US Army Ret., and Delaware author/historian John Riley, who shared the story of six French Cavalry Soldiers from Luzon’s Legion who perished in Wilmington in 1782 after Yorktown.
  • Beautiful music from the St. Joe’s RC Church Choir, representing the oldest African American Catholic Church in Delaware.
  • Wreath bearers from inner-city Wilmington veterans and members of American Legion Posts 10 and 11.
  • A special presentation to Marie Dash of her late husband Sgt. Tony Dash’s missing Vietnam medals.

 

After the ceremony, wreaths were placed on the graves of 28 Revolutionary War soldiers buried at Old Swedes Church along the Trail.
